In the flatlands of Wallonia about 150km south west of Brussels is the little town of Dour. There’s a festival that’s been happening there since 1989 and it may be one of Belgium’s best kept secrets…

DOUR Festival 2022

13-17 July 2022

After the pandemic we never thought would end, we’ve found ourselves with what looks like a glorious summer where we can finally get our dancing shoes on, our outdoor gear ready (excuse the pun) and find a festival worthy of spending that money we were supposed to save during those lockdowns (Which we know was actually spent on pizza and beer, so a real reason to get dancing – to lose that weight gain from the lockdowns!)

Discerning techno heads that we are at Fnoob Techno, we like our techno pounding and our festivals friendly. We think Dour (pronounced “doorrr” for you Native English speakers out there) is definitely one to check out.

Dax J playing on Friday 15 July at Dour

Dour has had a music festival going since 1989 when 2000 or so people turned up to see a few french bands. They’re now catering for around 150,000 revellers and this year is bound to be a whopper. The promoters have called it Dour XXL as they wanted to spread the love given the last two years were cancelled due to the pandemic and have added load of artists to the line up.
In fact the reason we’re writing this blog is because Robert, our head honcho went to Dour back in 2019 and had a blast! Anyway….
Dour isn’t just techno, so you can bring your techno widows along and they’re sure to find something to watch and listen to. Our notable mentions for non-techno go to Sleaford Mods and Metronomy but there are loads more…..Apparently 220 artists across 8 stages or areas.
Just so we’re clear you can obviously camp there. There’s a massive camping area they call Dour Campfest which they even have warm up acts playing at from the 11 July 2022. You can literally get totally festied for a week!

There’s line ups and there’s line ups…

And of course other stuff including…. fitness classes! so you can work off the previous nights excesses!(How sensible… or is that sadistic!)

Final words

So if you’ve got the itch to get your techno groove on you could do a lot worse than checking out Dour from the 13-17 July 2022. We’re reckon it’s going to be a stormer!

Who knows? if the promoters are smart maybe next year they’ll bring the underground along… a Fnoob Techno Marquee showcasing the finest underground techno talent would go down well… watch this space!
